About this song
How Do Vegetables Grow? begins with a question only a very curious hedgehog would ask. Poppy loves the veggies growing in a row — but how did they get there? Rosy, Lilly and Diggy each have an answer, because each of them grew one from a single tiny seed: Rosy her crunchy orange carrots, Lilly her round pink radishes, and Diggy his big red beetroot. Plant it, water it every day, watch the leaves grow slow and steady — then dig, dig, dig and pull, pull, PULL!
It is a patience song in disguise. The song doesn't skip to the harvest; it sits in the waiting, because good things take time — and a carrot you helped grow isn't a vegetable you're made to eat. It's yours. Every verse has an action little ones can copy along the way: poke the seed, pat the soil, tip the watering can, and grow up tall like a plant.
What it teaches: How vegetables grow from seeds, patience, food curiosity, colours (orange, pink, red), copy-along actions.
How Do Vegetables Grow? — Lyrics
I love veggies, all growing in a row.
How did they grow? I'd really like to know!
I planted carrot seeds, in a soil with no weeds,
Every seed in a hole, until I planted them all.
I watered them everyday, before I went to play,
I watched the leaves grow, slow and steady,
Until my lovely carrots were big and ready!
I planted radish seeds, in a soil with no weeds,
Every seed in a hole, until I planted them all.
I watered them everyday, before I went to play,
I watched the leaves grow, slow and steady,
Until my lovely radishes were big and ready!
I planted beetroot seeds, in a soil with no weeds,
Every seed in a hole, until I planted them all.
I watered them everyday, before I went to play,
I watched the leaves grow, slow and steady,
Until my lovely beetroot was big and ready!
Dig, dig, dig! Pull, pull, PULL!
