About this song
Mum puts Lilly and Rosy to bed. Out of the window, the whole garden is going to sleep at the same time: the hens, the puppies, the butterflies, the owl, the robin and the flowers. Two things winding down together.
It is the calmest song in the catalogue. Every picture is held for six seconds or longer, nobody’s mouth moves, and the screen grows darker and quieter all the way to the last note. Lots of little ones find the dark a bit frightening; this song gently shows that night is full of friendly creatures going to sleep, just like them.
What it teaches: Bedtime routine, nocturnal and diurnal animals, real nature facts, settling down

The Garden Says Good Night - Lyrics
The sun is slowly going down,
It’s fading out of sight.
The little hens begin to yawn,
It’s time to say good night.
The stars are shining bright,
It’s time to say good night.
The day is done, we’ve had our fun,
It’s time to say good night.
Puppies curl up on the ground,
While butterflies sleep upside down.
The owls fly by on silent wings,
And “Good night,” the robin sings.
Daisies close their eyes
To wait for morning light.
And tulips too, and poppies too,
It’s time to say good night.
The stars are shining bright,
It’s time to say good night.
The day is done, we’ve had our fun,
It’s time to say good night.
