About this song
Mum, Diggy and Poppy get up early and secretly set up a party table in the allotment: cupcakes, candles, fruit bowls and balloons. Rosy and Lilly wake up, come through the gate, and get the surprise. Then everyone sings, blows out the candles, has a gentle little dance and eats cupcakes.
We left the names out on purpose. It is the traditional song exactly as everyone knows it, so you can play it at any child’s birthday. It is calm on purpose too: no shouting, no flashing, no frantic party noise.
What it teaches: Celebrating others, a song every child will hear at parties, waiting for your turn to blow
